Grub

image

Been neglecting this space (again) as I didnt have much time to use my laptop to edit the photos as I am always out. But I just found a damn good photo editing app and I love it! Hope I will be more motivated to blog more! I actually have a bucket list for what to blog about and now I am to clear off the 1st on my list!

It was a dinner out with my lovely colleagues again to celebrate Friday! Nothing special about the Friday, just want to chill and relax after a busy week. We chose Grub as it was a new restaurant and the place looked pretty nice to chill. But the seating area is limited so we have to queue for awhile especially for a big group. We got our queue number and then we sat at some playground nearby and look what I’ve gotten for myself:

Sandflies bites!!!! Gosh I didnt know it was that bad till the next day! It looked much worst in real life. Glad they didnt leave any scars behind as I was very disciplined not to scratch though they itched like crazy.

Okay. Back to Grub. So we got our seats and settled down. The service staffs were very friendly but not so attentive cos it was full house! They were running around like mad.

Our limelight of the day is none other than our most affordable Alyssa! She’s such a cutie pie and so lovable that we naturally drawn our attention to her.

Nanny for the day – Mr Hong.
*Disclaimer: Alyssa was merely playing with the cold beer. No underage drinking here.

And here comes the food!

image

Just normal egg with bread stick.

image

This is kinda good.

image

Pork Burger! The meat was not overdone, juices were quite well retained. Recommended!ย

image

Chicken Roll with Mashed Potato. I thought the mashed potatoes were quite good. Homemade and well infused with cream. Chicken was good too. Crispy and tender. Nicely done.

image

Most disappointing dish. Risotto with Salmon (I think) . Risotto was overcooked and too much gravy. No texture at all. Boo.

image

image

Churros and waffle for desserts!ย  Churros was good! And according to Bloss, this is by so far the best Churros she had in Singapore. Of cos still can’t be compared to what she had in Australia. Waffle was not bad too.

That pretty sums up the food we had. Of cos not missing the joy and laughter that spread across the dinner. Happiness can be so simple.

Hope you had fun reading too!

Till then,

Chikuwa Tei Japanese Restaurant

I was feeling really depressed one day at work and needed some therapy and companion. Food and friends are definitely the best remedy.

So as I have been craving for sushi and sashimi for quite some time, I quickly shortlisted a few Japanese restaurant for our impromptu dinner and finally settled ourselves at Chikuwa Tei Japanese Restaurant.

chikuwa

It is a humble restaurant with a few bar counter seats and normal seatings. The service crews were very friendly and warming, just like those authentic Japanese restaurant. When we reached there, it was already full house. But the friendly service crew told us there will be seats available in 10 minutes time and gave us the menu to take a look first. We waited patiently and ordered our dishes before we got our table (‘cos we were famished!).

The prices were absolutely reasonable and affordable. For the tantalizing plate of sashimi for 2 (but 3 of us shared it and still feel satisfied!) cost about $38. Totally worth it. It was fresh and had retained the sweetness of the fish. The imperfection is if you love thin slices of sashimi, these might not appeal to you.

As I was craving for sushi, I ordered a tempura maki and my all-time favourite soft shell crab handroll. It was above average but I would prefer if the sushi rice is more grainy. Personal preference of course. The rest ordered their bento sets which was very worth it. Price of bento ranges from $12 to $20. And quality definitely worth more than what you paid for.

Love dinner dates like these with my colleagues, de-stressing and chilling after work. Its the companion and friendship that keeps people living in that environment. I’m also very grateful to have such lovely colleagues that anybody else would ask for.

Till then,

P.S. I need a compact camera. My phone’s camera sucks.

Tokyo Sushi Academy

So we were very honored to be invited by Wa Show for a food tasting atย Tokyo Sushi Academy! Wa-Show has recently launched a local online website where you can purchase their products. How awesome is that!

What I love about Japanese and their food is that they are very respectful and very serious to them. From the way they explain to us and talk about their product, I can feel their passion and appreciation in it. When we reached there, we were been served with very fresh honey tomato. I‘ve never ate so much tomatoes before and they are just so irresistible. Every one of them is so sweet! And literally EVERY one of them! Just look at how pretty are those honey tomatoes.

And my two beautiful colleagues are enjoying the best tomatoes in town

What’s Japanese food without tea? So we were served with their specially imported flavoured tea. I chosed the Monka Black Tea with “Momotaro” Grape. It’s black tea with infused with tint of grapes’ flavour. The natural sweet taste is very suitable for those who doesn’t like the strong bitter taste of tea. The prices for the tea are also very reasonable. Definitely worth a try!

Image

Okay, now the food part. Since they were show casing their specially imported Japanese Kagoshima Wagyu beef, from shabu-shabu salad to sushi is beautifully done with the Waygu beef. Every cow will be given a birth certificate. They will be given a name, their parent’s name, identification number etc, just like us. Here’s a quick snap of the birth certificate.

Image

And wow, the beef dishes are so good. Tender, smooth, and with a few cups of sake. Everything makes it perfect. Let the photo do the talking.

Now looking at these photos make me want to eat them again. Finishing the dinner with crown melon. They cost a bomb as they will cut away the other 2 melon out the the 3 melon that has grown from a seed and only chose the 1 that grows well, so that all the nutrients and minerals only goes to the crown melon. This is how perfect and prideful the farmers treat their “babies”. It’s so sweet that I thought they may have added artificial flavouring.

That summarize the experienced at TSA. If you are planning some team bonding activities for your company or school, you may want to consider a cooking class at TSA. They have space that can accommodate a class of 20 people (if I’m not wrong). Find out more on their website here! Learn to dish out some sushi sounds fun!

Entre-Nous Creperie

Weather has been terribly horrible for the past weeks and it’s worst now. Even my hair caught the haze and smell like I’ve gone to a BBQ before coming to work. Please drink more water and wear a mask while outside.

Just read a blog article yesterday about photography for beginners. The blogger set a goal for himself to take at least a photo in manual mode a day and that’s how he picked up the skills. Quite a cool idea which also inspires me to do the same. All I need is a little bit of encouragement and with a pinch of guts to do. I have to ignore those comments saying I’m crazy and not shy to take out my camera and snap. Heh.

Went toย Entre-Nous Creperie last night. It’s an authentic French Crepe restaurant.ย Oh my god, they have the best crepes (at least those I’ve tried in Singapore) ever! I’m not kidding at all! We tried 2 of their galette, ย Avocado mashed with garlic, cream and tomatoes and Roquefort, chives, and toasted walnut and of course not forgetting the sweet dessert, Geraldine’s Favourite (salted butter caramel , cooked apple and vanilla ice cream). They even add fresh vanilla bean into their vanilla ice cream. The waiting time for the food to arrive is slightly longer but I’m not complaining! They have really nice ambience and good for catching up and just chit chatting – sort of compromised the waiting time.

Entre-nous Creperie

A busy week ahead! Cousin’s wedding and a mini project coming up. So excited bout the mini project! I hope it turns out awesome! Will keep this space posted!

The Bark Cafe

The Bark Cafe

Went to The Bark Cafe for some chilling session on Friday. A pretty nice place to chill out as the ambience was quite good. Their food variety was quite broad as they have french cuisine like top shell, smoked duck to local delights like Hor Fun and mee goreng (please tell me how you link them up together). Those main courses we had ranges from $17.90++ onwards. Oh! They have really cool parking lots too!

Go check out their website!
